The site, formerly the Village Square arts and crafts theme park, is centrally located within Hope Island, across the road from the new Hope Island Marketplace shopping centre.

Reside Communities plans to develop a premium retirement community on the site, fulfilling the shortfall of quality retirement living options in the local area.

The planned development will reinvigorate the disused site and provide an extensive range of resident amenity, including over a hectare of green space, 150m of direct canal frontage and quality facilities including a cinema, cafe, hair and beauty salon, putting green and workshop.

ResideCommunities operates two established communities in Brisbane and surrounds. Samford Grove, a retirement village in Samford Valley, has recently had a Development Approval granted for the construction of brand new community facilities and 120 additional homes and apartments.

Brookland, located in the south Brisbane suburb of Robertson, is home to 121 existing homes and apartments, with plans in place to expand and refresh the community's resident facilities and develop a range of brand new apartments.
